Yes, I didn’t know what this was either. It seems like it is short for an online magazine.  So I may need help to get this started.

First edition: getting started.

This was a blank page all morning then I thought, why not start with how you got two books published?

The real beginning occurred in 1974 when I published I LIVE WITH A MENDED HEART with my mother as editor and my brother as printer. Bi-pass surgery on the heart was ONLY at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio in the entire USA!. I had to show up a day before for ‘classes’. First, they asked how many were smokers. ONE cigarette in the past thirty days and you went home. They would not accept you. But that is getting ahead of the account. People were stopping me on the street and asking questions about my experience. That’s when I decide to write about it.

I wrote three chapters and an outline for some more. The editor of the newspaper was not there so I laid it on his desk with a short note, “What do you think?” The next week everyone was stopping me and saying things like, “I enjoyed your article.” or “What’s next?” Are you going to write more?”. After thirteen chapters, articles, whatever, my mother and brother urged me to make a book. I bought a mailing list of doctors and hospitals all over the country. Sold a copy for $1.95 including postage.

January 13 2020

How can it be two weeks into 2020 already? What happened to 1989? or last week?

Last week was for the most part rather dull. Perhaps that’s why It went so fast? I did enter another of the 24-hour story contest at Writers Weekly. To long to include here of course, but I will post it if I get any placing in the top groups.

Not much else for this week, except a lot of writing to catch up on from so little last year.

I did finish another baby quilt and hope to deliver to, Chelsi at Subway this week sometime. Another awaits finishing on the guest-room bed.

new beginning

New books are in the mill. Water flowing over the wheel and interior machinery is slowly coming to life.

I can’t reveal much more than that but will do so as soon as possible.

I am also going to try and say something at least once a week on this site. Yes I  know,I said that before but now I really will try.

This year has been a series of in and out of the hospital. Then I tripped over my own two shoes and took a rather hard fall. New books have taken a stop sign until I can get going again 100%. which should be now!.

Wed. 2-20-19

Got word today that request for med. pills was denied. That was 8 days ago. More has happened since, I think. Going toDoc.tomorrow.

Forsythia showing yellow today. Daffy’s out for over a week. Some trees around town showing color. Spring can’t be far behind. But only 40′ today.

new beginning

I will try to keep this going now. Well, at least every other day. Today is news about my Mexiletine drug for my heart A-Fib. Last year the co-pay was $18 for three months. Medicare plan D enrollment ends on December 7th. But the formulary comes out the about the second week in January. So how do you pick a plan? I am stuck so far at $175.30 for a drug that has no other substitutes. I began my quest for relief with BCBS that first opportunity in January.  No result yet. I’m down to one more day and out.

Wandring news

Kathy almost completely set in her new house. I had Bobby, the plumber, out the other day. What a gift of honesty he is. He drove all the way out to Raeford;  took the shower faucet apart; declared a small item was the problem. We could do the repair ourselves if we took the part to a plumbing supply house and then charged us an extremely low fee. What a jewel he is.

Meanwhile, there is a book sale this Friday, June 22, 2018, 7:30 at the main library. I’ll be there with my books for signing and dedications.

Another new event with the library is a FREE book loan program. Not sure exactly how it will work, but I’m going to let them have a copy of RENDERING and SENIOR TOURING SOCIETY.  Hopefully, the procedure will lead to actual sales.

news

WEll, Kathy is here. She was a day late because the flight from the Soo got ten minutes in the air and had to return. Her car was supposed to arrive that Friday, NOPE. Then Sat., Sun, Mon, Tues. Hopefully today, Wednesday. She got the message to them that whatever the delay was, it was not her fault and they agree to take $300 off the cost. So she is waiting at her house for it. I think all the furniture is tomorrow.

Meanwhile, she has washed everything in the kitchen and both baths. Changed a bunch of light bulbs. Changed all the batteries in the fire alarms. And of course, started working Monday. Bought a new washer and dryer. A bunch of household things, like T.P. paper, paper toweling, various soaps and a new broom. Arranged for the recycling and garbage cans to be delivered and establish a company to collect the stuff in them once a week. Went grocery shopping to fill the fridge. I may have forgotten a few other things.

May

A day early for May but resting my back by sitting down. I’m doing another quilt, trying to get rid of the pile a fabriics in the back closet. So far I can’t tell I’ve used any. Pain comes and goes and may be result of stretching the ribs to far during my first bi-pass in 1975. Several doctors say nothing found in all the x-rays, mri’s etc. Most advise against surgery without finding a definite cause. Usually a little Aspercreme and two aspirins ease it.

One of the ladies at our writing group says she has the sketches for Santa’s New Sleigh ready for Wednesday night. A story I wrote for Ann and Pam when they lived here in Faye. and my original story is dated 1992. I’ll compile the sketches and my dialog  for Nancy and send them off by the weekend. Meanwhile working on the Rochester Michigan storm that knocked power out for the entire city. I’m adding some things from two other episodes to make it a HUGE disaster. I will try to get this on the way in the coming months.
